Who doesn’t love a great cartoon?

It’s always a fun studio project and sometimes a real head scratcher to come up with one’s own Holiday Greetings. Happily, or perhaps luckily, every year we pull it off and end up surprising ourselves.
December 1, 2015

This year we thought we’d turn the tables and invite you, our clients and friends, to get creative. So we encourage and implore you to enter our very first Trapeze Xmas Caption Contest, featuring a unique batch of original cartoons that should get your creative captioning juices flowing. You can enter as often as you like, and don’t hold back. This is time to be silly. There’s a new cartoon every week during December, so watch your Inbox and your social media feeds for reminders to enter weekly. Prizes are pretty good too.

Cartoons are the ultimate story at a glance – they make us think, they make us laugh, they are wildly imaginative, and they are an art form unto themselves. And captioning them is what frequently elevates the cartoon from a clever illustration to a masterpiece. That’s where you come in!

We’ve also assembled an illustrious panel of judges to evaluate the weekly entries and choose the winners. So if you don’t win, you can blame these fine people right here and if you do win, well, you can heap praise upon them!

Thank you to Lise Gyorkos of Page One Publishing, Kate Moran of Ocean Networks Canada and Jon Tupper of the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria. These are folks we know to have a good sense of humour and we so appreciate their own sense of fun by agreeing to do this with us!

So enjoy the contest and may it remind you of the great cartoon strips and cartoonists of your lifetime, be they the geniuses of Mad Magazine or The New Yorker Magazine — still the definitive and most revered source of witty, acerbic and on-point cartooning.

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas and all good things to each and every one of you. And don’t forget to enter!
